:: History

The six acres of land on which Kingswood United Methodist Church now stands was purchased in the spring of 1963 by the Rock River Conference Board of Missions of the United Methodist Church.  The first worship service on the site was held on September 8, 1963 and was attended by seventy five people.  Kingswood was chartered on April 12, 1964 with 64 members.

Growth continued between 1963 and September, 1969 when a new building was completed that contained offices, a nursery, a kitchen and a sanctuary that would seat 250 people.  The continuing growth in the decade that followed culminated in another building expansion.  The addition of 11 classrooms, new offices, a choir room, a kitchen and a multi – purpose activity center was completed in September, 1978.

In 1984 Kingswood increased its clergy staff from one to two ordained clergy.

Growth continued and in 1996 the church began construction to expand the facilities to its present form.  The expansion was completed in June, 1997.
