CONNECTING THROUGH MEMBERSHIP
We would love to have you join our sacred community! If you are a member of another church and want to transfer your membership or don't have membership anywhere and wish to become a member of Kingswood, we welcome you! At Kingswood, membership is active participation in a local congregation as a follower of Jesus. The vows of professing membership include promises to faithfully participate through prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness in connection with our local congregation as we love God, serve others and build sacred community in following Christ.
We invite you to attend one of our quarterly newcomers lunches, also referred to as Kingswood 101.
This is not required but is a great opportunity for folks to get more acquainted with Kingswood and to learn more about our congregation, our ministries, membership, and more. Lunch is provided and childcare is available upon request.
All are welcome, if you are interested in attending please contact Carianne Short.
If you are a member of another church and want to transfer your membership or don't have membership anywhere and wish to become a member of Kingswood, we invite you to have a conversation with Pastor James Preston, Pastor Josh Lee or Carianne Short.
It is our desire to get to know you more and learn how we can best support one another in our spiritual journey. This is also a time when you're welcome to ask questions about Kingswood, United Methodism, spirituality etc.

At Kingswood, membership is active participation in a local congregation. The vows of professing membership thus include promises to faithfully participate through prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness in connection with a local congregation.
Throughout our life, as we pray, study the scriptures, worship and share in fellowship with other Christians, we deepen our knowledge of and love for God. As we respond with compassion to human need and work for justice in our communities, we strengthen our capacity to love our neighbors. We confess and repent of our sins, ways in which we fall short of God’s way. In this way, our inner thoughts and motives, as well as our outer actions and behavior, are aligned with God’s will and testify to our union with God.
frequently asked questions
If I was baptized in another Christian tradition is it acknowledged in The United Methodist Church?
Yes, people who have been baptized by water in the name of the Trinity in other Christian faith traditions are welcome to be members of Kingswood and continue their faith journey with us..
If I want to be a member of Kingswood temporarily while living in the area, can I become a member and keep my membership elsewhere?
Yes, we have what Affiliate membership for professing members of another United Methodist Church who may be temporarily far from their home congregation and wish to connect with the life, ministry, and watch-care of a congregation nearer to where they now are for a time.
If I want to be a member of Kingswood but don't identify as Methodist Christian and have membership at another church, can I be a member at both churches?
Yes, we have Associate membership for non-United Methodists currently wanting to connect in some formal way with us. Associate members have been baptized by water in the name of the Trinity and have professed Christian faith in another Christian denomination, and wish to connect with a local United Methodist Church, but wish to retain their current denominational affiliation rather than become professing members of The United Methodist Church while in their current location.
