The social justice team coordinates efforts to go deeper into issues of mission and mercy by addressing more systemic causes and issues related to society and our Christian faith.

This team works on greater social change and witness.

Raising Children in a Racially Unjust World Training

The social justice team invites you to attend the Colors of Love Training on August 25 at First UMC of Elmhurst from 8:30 a.m. to 1pm. The event will feature Dr. Jennifer Harvey, author and religion professor at Drake University, and a panel of Chicago metro area youth exploring challenges and resources for raising children into a healthy identity that affirms racial justice. Great for parents and leaders of children/youth. Register by August 15th at The $25 fee includes lunch. If you wish to car pool, meet at the church at 7:30am. Contact Pastor Josh more info.

Kingswood supports Northern Illinois Justice For Our Neighbors, a UMC ministry that provides high-quality immigration legal services at no cost to our clients. Click here for more info on Justice for Our Neighbors in Norther Illinois.

Please sign up to help at the Northern Illinois Justice for Our Neighbors Legal Clinic. The clinic will runs from 3-7 pm, with volunteer hours starting as early as 2 pm and ending as late as 8:15 pm. No one needs to stay the entire time unless you want to sign up for more than one shift.
