Pumpkin Ministry 2023

Kingswood's Annual Pumpkin Patch

Kingswood has a long tradition of selling pumpkins every October to support missions and ministries at Kingswood Church.  Through the years we have become known to many in the area as the "pumpkin church."  For us, it is so much more than a fundraiser; it is a way to welcome and connect with members of the greater community.  Our pumpkins are grown at the Navajo Indian Reservation in Farmington, NM where over 700 Native Americans are employed during the harvest months of September and October. This has a positive and lasting impact on a region with 42% unemployment.
We hope you'll consider volunteering this year.  We need lots of help unloading pumpkins and selling them through Halloween.  Thank you!

Pumpkin Unloading is October 7

The pumpkin delivery is scheduled for 2 pm on Saturday, October 7.  Unloading is great fun for all ages!  Bring a wagon or wheelbarrow if you have one.  Garden/work gloves can be useful, too!  It typically takes about two hours to unload and then we enjoy pizza after our work.  Please sign up if  you plan to attend so we can order enough pizza for our hungry unloaders!

Pumpkin Sales Shifts

Once the pumpkins are unloaded, we are ready to sell them!  The patch is open from 12-6 pm during the week and from 10 am to 6 pm on the weekends.  Most of the shifts are two hours in length and require two people (one adult always).  The shifts are:
  • 12-2pm, 2-4pm, 4-6pm Monday through Friday
  • 10am-12pm, 12-2pm, 2-4pm, 4-6pm Saturdays & Sundays
  • The last week of October we will add a shift from 6-7:30 pm
Selling pumpkins is easy and fun.  If you haven't done it before, or need a refresher, contact Lauren Hill.  We have  nearly 90 shifts to fill! Please consider taking at least one shift during this season.
Wondering what you can do during your shift?
  • Get to know our customers!  Welcome them to Kingswood and make their purchase experience warm and friendly!  Some families like to take pictures at our patch - offer to take photos for them.
  • Sign up with a friend and enjoy a shift together.
  • Bring work or homework.  We have a WiFi extender if you want to bring a tablet or laptop.
  • Roll the pumpkins!  They can get moldy if they sit too long on one side.  This is really helpful and good if you want to move around during your shift.
  • Enjoy the beautiful fall weather and colors!  Read a book!
