Support the Food Pantry by Donating Your Extra Garden Produce

Calling all vegetable gardeners!  Do you have a garden that's producing more than you can eat?  Consider supporting the Kingswood Community Garden by donating your extra produce and we will, in turn, share it with our Food Pantry customers.  We have a donation bin at the Buffalo Grove campus inside the refrigerator in the Fireside Room Kitchen.  All tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, etc. are much appreciated!

Serve with United Methodist Men & Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity in Lake County is hosting a faith build program that will last all of August, where various faith groups are working on building low-income housing. The Kingswood United Methodist Men’s group has signed Kingswood up for a workday on Saturday August 10, from 8 am to 3 pm. All church members are welcome to join us on that day. Being early in the month we’ll probably be doing framing, but that all depends on how the work progresses on earlier days. Habitat is limiting the size of the group to 12 people with the possibility to have another group on August 24, again limited to 12 people. You can sign up  for either day, but we encourage you to do it early so we can confirm to Habitat that we will have a crew on August 24.  Contact Norm Belew with questions.

Thrift Store Accepting Donations

New Beginnings Thrift Store is an on-site shop next door to Kingswood at Manna House on the Buffalo Grove campus.  The store offers low-cost items to community members in need.  If you are doing some spring cleaning, consider donating items. We accept most donations as long as they are clean and in good condition. We do not accept florist vases, glassware, clothes, shoes/boots, books, or large furniture. Donations at Buffalo Grove can be placed in the bin in the cove near the coat racks. Donations at Deerfield can be placed in the labeled bin across from the sanctuary. You may also donate during regular thrift store hours from 9:15 am to 12 pm on Thursdays.

Food Pantry

The Food Pantry at the Buffalo Grove campus provides food on an emergency basis to families and individuals from Wheeling Township, which includes surrounding suburbs.  Through the generous donations of food items from Kingswood and other community members, we are able to serve 40-60 families each week.

PADS Homeless Ministry

PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) is a serving ministry of Kingswood Church, seeking to provide temporary shelter, meals, and support for our brothers and sisters without homes and housing.  We have opportunities to serve in both Buffalo Grove and Deerfield.
